Q: The Adam and Eve on our world defaulted. From my understanding they were bestowed even as Jesus was bestowed to help progress our world spiritually. Adam and Eves are normally bestowed on all other planets(in Satania) of our order from my understanding. This means that some Adam and Eves did not default on some planets and have contributed their quota to these planets. I was just pondering over how spiritually developed and mortally civilized this planets now have become since if any paradise son visits any of these planets, they will already have the spiritual affinity and strength to easily believe truths and know God.

If this is the case, then this world really needs help. Of course Jesus has brought down the Spirit of Truth but after over 2000 years, 'this' is how far we've come. 'It is horror' in Russia. This is a place where people choose to walk almost naked on the streets especially during these times of much enjoyed sunshine. Naked pictures hang freely on the streets. Television is an eye-saw sometimes. Alcohol is water for some people. Civilization is...............

I just want us all to agree in prayer that Father will shower more of His love over Urantia by sending in more help in any way or form to help save this quarantined planet of our sojourn.

A: I had no idea of the state of your society there in Russia...it sounds pretty free-wheeling and liberal - but maybe not always in a good way. I am old enough to remember a time when Russian society was portrayed to Westerners as very dreary, bleak, and Godless. After the fall of Communism in the 80s, things began to change and it sounds like they have changed pretty dramatically. In my opinion, this is a natural outcome of severe repression being replaced by severe liberality. It is like the swing of a pendulum: when it is swung too far one way, the opposite swing will take it as far the other way. Stabilization will take many more swings before the pendulum rests somewhere in the middle.

It is so very sad about our Adam and Eve - their default (along with the planetary rebellion) really put us back as a global civilization. If things had gone according to God's plan, we would still have our Material Son and Daughter - the Garden of Eden would be known world-wide as the center for spiritual culture and education, and there would be no doubt about the presence of God, or the goodness and reality of spirituality. As you point out, the planets on which Adam and Eve were successful "have the spiritual affinity and strength to easily believe truths and know God." Unfortunately for us, we have to muddle through without these wonderful celestial ambassadors. It is no wonder that mankind feels orphaned and alone in the universe - confused about our place and purpose...

From The Urantia Book:

(51:3.9) Your world has been visited by four orders of sonship: Caligastia, the Planetary Prince; Adam and Eve of the Material Sons of God; Machiventa Melchizedek, the "sage of Salem" in the days of Abraham; and Christ Michael, who came as the Paradise bestowal Son. How much more effective and beautiful it would have been had Michael, the supreme ruler of the universe of Nebadon, been welcomed to your world by a loyal and efficient Planetary Prince and a devoted and successful Material Son, both of whom could have done so much to enhance the lifework and mission of the bestowal Son! But not all worlds have been so unfortunate as Urantia, neither has the mission of the Planetary Adams always been so difficult or so hazardous. When they are successful, they contribute to the development of a great people, continuing as the visible heads of planetary affairs even far into the age when such a world is settled in light and life.

(51:6.3) Think what it would mean on your world if somewhere in the Levant there were a world center of civilization, a great planetary university of culture, which had functioned uninterruptedly for 37,000 years. And again, pause to consider how the moral authority of even such an ancient center would be reinforced were there situated not far distant still another and older headquarters of celestial ministry [the Planetary Prince] whose traditions would exert a cumulative force of 500,000 years of integrated evolutionary influence. It is custom which eventually spreads the ideals of Eden to a whole world.

(51:7.5) ...if Urantians could only observe life on such a planet, they would immediately appreciate the value of those things which their world has lost through embracing evil and participating in rebellion.

But, we have to take heart...we have been blessed by the bestowal of Christ Michael of Nebadon, born as the helpless babe of Bethlehem. Jesus chose our little backward planet as the universe scene of his revelation of God the Father - an amazing bestowal which, while unusual and out of order, has done a tremendous service towards the upstepping of our spiritual consciousness over the past 2000+ years. Even though his message and mission has been adulterated and misunderstood over the centuries, we now have the fifth epochal revelation - The Urantia Book - restating, and renewing Jesus' purpose, to help steer us back on course and further our spiritual regeneration with his pure message of the "good news," the realization of the Fatherhood of God and the resultant development of the planetary brotherhood of man. Those of us who have read and adopted this revelation from our celestial benefactors are equipped to help change our world for the better.

It might seem an almost overwhelming task, given the amount of confusion and strife that still exists here, but it is not meant to happen overnight (even though we might wish for a dramatic spiritual revolution). Just as the example of Russian society shows us, too rapid a change can bring unwelcome results. As Jesus said: "...everything must await the coming of its time." Many people speculate about the appearance of a Magisterial Son...I hope that it happens, of course, and I believe that it WILL happen. But when, is anyone's guess. I think that when it does happen we'll all know about it, but until then...

We who have accepted our sonship, and who dwell in the spiritual kingdom of heaven, must be content to seed our personal world with as much truth, beauty and goodness that we can muster - to effect change first, in our personal lives, and then to exhibit the fruits of the spirit which will draw others to a better way that they themselves would like to adopt. It can be discouraging to see the evidence of our planetary failures, but it can also be tremendously encouraging to experience our own spiritual victories as agondonters and truth-sharers.

I definitely add my prayers to yours that we are given some help - and soon. But even as we are, we have the great gift of The Urantia Book, and the assurance of eternal life. This often-crazy life is a very short sojourn in comparison...

The "Planet of the Cross "

Q: How come the creatures on other inhabited planets know of us and even refer to our planet as the planet of the cross while we have no idea of them?

A: Thanks for this question.

(188:4.1) It is a fact that Urantia has become known among other neighboring inhabited planets as the â€œworld of the cross.â€�

Well, we do have some idea of these other planets since receiving The Urantia Book, but you are right. We do not know of these other planets as they know of us. They know enough about us to know what has happened here - that Christ Michael of Nebadon incarnated here as a mortal of the realm and died here on a cross. We only know that there are many other planets "out there" who know of us as "the world of the cross." We are told something of these other planets in The Urantia Book, but precious little, really; only enough to know that we are pretty backward in comparison.

The reason for this lack of knowledge on our part is due to the Lucifer rebellion, and our one-time Planetary Prince's participation in it. Once Caligastia threw his support behind Lucifer's efforts to unseat the Father's rule, our planet - and our whole system - was placed under "spiritual quarantine;" in other words, we were isolated from the rest of the planetary systems, so as not to allow the rebellion to spread unchecked. It is like what happens when a person comes down with a contagious disease. That person is placed under quarantine and isolated from the rest of the population until they get well, or else many, many people might also contract the same disease.

From The Urantia Book:

(67:3.1) The outbreak of rebellion on Jerusem, the capital of Satania, was broadcast by the Melchizedek council. The emergency Melchizedeks were immediately dispatched to Jerusem, and Gabriel volunteered to act as the representative of the Creator Son, whose authority had been challenged. With this broadcast of the fact of rebellion in Satania the system was isolated, quarantined, from her sister systems. There was "war in heaven," the headquarters of Satania, and it spread to every planet in the local system.

As to why we are able to know little or nothing of other worlds, even with the Urantia revelation:

(50:6.1) The isolation of Urantia renders it impossible to undertake the presentation of many details of the life and environment of your Satania neighbors. In these presentations we are limited by the planetary quarantine and by the system isolation. We must be guided by these restrictions in all our efforts to enlighten Urantia mortals, but in so far as is permissible, you have been instructed in the progress of an average evolutionary world, and you are able to compare such a world's career with the present state of Urantia.

And why other planets (not under quarantine) know so much about us:

(33:6.5) From Salvington, broadcasts are simultaneously directed to the constellation headquarters, the system headquarters, and to individual planets. All higher orders of celestial beings are able to utilize this service for communication with their fellows scattered throughout the universe. The universe broadcast is extended to all inhabited worlds regardless of their spiritual status. Planetary intercommunication is denied only those worlds under spiritual quarantine.

So, the other planets receive broadcasts informing them of the goings-on around the universe. We here on Urantia are denied such broadcasts.

Even Jesus terrible death on the cross was broadcast to the universe:

(187:6.3) Thus ended a day of tragedy and sorrow for a vast universe whose myriads of intelligences had shuddered at the shocking spectacle of the crucifixion of the human incarnation of their beloved Sovereign; they were stunned by this exhibition of mortal callousness and human perversity.

But, there is a silver lining to all of this dreary news, and we find words of comfort here:

(50:7.1) On first thought it might appear that Urantia and its associated isolated worlds are most unfortunate in being deprived of the beneficent presence and influence of such superhuman personalities as a Planetary Prince and a Material Son and Daughter. But isolation of these spheres affords their races a unique opportunity for the exercise of faith and for the development of a peculiar quality of confidence in cosmic reliability which is not dependent on sight or any other material consideration. It may turn out, eventually, that mortal creatures hailing from the worlds quarantined in consequence of rebellion are extremely fortunate. We have discovered that such ascenders are very early intrusted with numerous special assignments to cosmic undertakings where unquestioned faith and sublime confidence are essential to achievement.

On Jerusem the ascenders from these isolated worlds occupy a residential sector by themselves and are known as the agondonters, meaning evolutionary will creatures who can believe without seeing, persevere when isolated, and triumph over insuperable difficulties even when alone. This functional grouping of the agondonters persists throughout the ascension of the local universe and the traversal of the superuniverse; it disappears during the sojourn in Havona but promptly reappears upon the attainment of Paradise and definitely persists in the Corps of the Mortal Finality

And this:

(108:4.4) When a world is isolated by rebellion, when a planet is cut off from all outside encircuited communication, as was Urantia after the Caligastia upheaval, aside from personal messengers there remains but one possibility of direct interplanetary or universe communication, and that is through the liaison of the Adjusters of the spheres. No matter what happens on a world or in a universe, the Adjusters are never directly concerned. The isolation of a planet in no way affects the Adjusters and their ability to communicate with any part of the local universe, superuniverse, or the central universe. And this is the reason why contacts with the supreme and the self-acting Adjusters of the reserve corps of destiny are so frequently made on quarantined worlds. Recourse is had to such a technique as a means of circumventing the handicaps of planetary isolation.

We here on Urantia are still in the process of getting well from the effects of our terrible disease of rebellion. One hopes that in the not-too-distant future, we will once more be reconnected to the system circuits. But in the meantime, we must soldier on as agondonters, with our indwelling adjusters and living faith to guide our way. We have also been blessed by the revelation of The Urantia Book, and in time, its truths will seep into humanity's spiritual consciousness to lead us into a new age of spiritual evolution. In time, our quarantine will be lifted...

An Interesting Hypothesis

Q: i never believed sadler had anything to do with the original transcripts of the
urantia papers. the papers came from europe, via an 1800's expedition that led the group through india, nepal, the himalayas and other places as well. that's where the papers began to be related by non-human beings. i can't believe people can cover up the truth and attribute the origin of the urantia papers to sadler or any other human. The papers are not from america, and the name urantia belongs to all humans. i can't believe all the court issues, and one day the truth will be revealed. sadler and others really did a good cover up job, but not good enough. I've been researching this since 1970 and i will never believe sadler's version and i certainly dont recognize any group who claims to themselves special titles and special authority over the urantia manuscripts. shame to all the liars for perpetuating the illusions of lies and falsehood. they will stand and face their own deceit one day.

Thank you for your interesting note. Your unique hypothesis is one I've never heard before. Why do you think it's a better one than the one that's commonly accepted? Why do you think the commonly accepted one is a fabrication? What to you is more meaningful about an origin in the east rather than originating in Chicago that would cause you to believe such an account?

To me it sounds as if you may be hanging onto the "new age" concepts that everything spiritually meaningful came from some ancient sources in China or Tibet or India in the 1800s. Since such new age concepts aren't supported by the teachings of The Urantia Book and since the Chicago origin of the Urantia papers is so well documented by many hundreds of personal letters, documents, and other records I don't find any reasonable support for such a contention.

If, as you believe, the papers originated in the east, what language would they have been given in? The papers themselves say they were indited in English. The reason English was chosen is first, it has the largest vocabulary of any written language which makes expression of the sublime concepts presented by the revelators somewhat easier, but even at that the language often proved to be a stumbling block. Still, the quality of English used in The Urantia Book is of the highest standard of any literary work -- that couldn't have been achieved by a translation from some less expressive language into English. Second, due to commerce, English is becoming the one-world-language that is so necessary in order for humanity to progress toward that one-world-government on its way toward light and life. More and more of the peoples of the world are becoming able to read the Urantia revelation in its original language, not inferior translations.

Another consideration would be that since much of the content of The Urantia Book comes directly from books previously published, although altered to express higher concepts than the original contained, and since some of those books weren't published until the 1930s, how would that material have been included if the original Urantia text came from somewhere in the east in the 1800s?

But, just as you said, I never believed Dr. Sadler had anything to do with the original transcripts of the Urantia papers either. He was a custodian and more the gatekeeper for their reception -- his job was to see that they were properly received, were reviewed, were put into untampered book form, and I believe he fulfilled his purpose better than nearly any other mortal presented with such a responsibility could or would have done.

You did say you can't believe people can cover up the truth and attribute the origin of the Urantia papers to Sadler or any other human. Neither can I -- all the more reason not to accept a far-east origin. Since the origin in Chicago is the most logical and most simple, that also would tend to make it the most believable.

I agree with you that the name Urantia belongs to all humans, not just to Americans, and I've not seen any evidence that anyone else believes otherwise. And as you said, the court issues are a sad chapter to our history, but certainly not unique.

Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing why your interpretation makes better sense to you than what most of us accept as truth. One of the purposes of studying The Urantia Book is to become more fully in tune with truth, to dispel flighty thinking, to rely upon what our minds sense as being logical and of value; that requires altering our thinking and being able to accept truth as we find it rather than truth as we'd like it to be.

When Will Urantia Be Free From Quarantine?

Q: When will Urantia be free from the quarantine, and when/where will Lucifer's judgement take place?

A: The judgment of Lucifer occurs in the spiritual realm, not in the physical material creation. The quarantine is also a spiritual event and has little if anything to do with material creation. Therefore there is little likelihood that we will know, need to know, or experience anything once it has transpired.

Although this world has experienced great spiritual loss due to the effects of the Lucifer rebellion we as individuals haven't suffered because of it -- God still loves us personally and individually, we still have our ministering angels, the Spirit of Truth and the Holy Spirit still connect with us, we each have an adjuster and we still participate in the ascension career; and we have the gift of the life and teachings of Jesus to guide us.

You may have heard from psychics that the Lucifer rebellion has been adjudicated and that "the circuits are open." Such a claim is intended to justify channeling and other psychic activity and give channelers credibility. But, as you may be aware, The Urantia Book does not support psychic activity as a method of spiritual development and warns against pursuing such mental activity, particularly since psychic activity stems from the subconscious mind and spiritual contact is through the superconscious mind. So what seems real to the psychic may be of some value to that psychic but is of little spiritual benefit to anyone else. It is best to ignore "the circuits are open" claims and to participate in the material life of this planet as a "normal" human being. There are no "inside tracks" to perfection.

Why Is Earth Called "Urantia?"

Q: Why is Earth called Urantia? Is it related with planet Uranus and its influence over Earth?

A: Here's an etymological explanation:

-ia = noun-forming suffix used for names
general: urania - heavenly (uran-) one (-ia)
specific: Urania - the heavenly one (Gr. Myth., the Muse of astronomy)
-tia = noun-forming suffix
U.B.: "-tia" is indicative of impersonal, while "-ia" is more personal
general: urantia = heavenly (uran-) place (-tia)
specific: Urantia = (y)our heavenly place (i.e., in the cosmos)

The revelators of The Urantia Book explain that their mandate required them to use the English language to convey the revelation. Since English hadn't been invented at the time the planet was given a name, a billion years ago, the name it has in its original language is meaningless to us so an English derivative was coined as explained above. The same is true of all the other unusual and unique names found in the book. Celestial beings don't speak English; the words they use would have no meaning to us.

So, no, it has nothing to do with Uranus other than the connection through Greek mythology. The planets do not exert astrological influence over Earth.

A: Here are several quotes from The Urantia Book that address your question...

The Sons of the next order to arrive on the average evolutionary world are the Trinity Teacher Sons, the divine Sons of the Paradise Trinity. Again we find Urantia out of step with its sister spheres in that your Jesus has promised to return. That promise he will certainly fulfill, but no one knows whether his second coming will precede or follow the appearances of Magisterial or Teacher Sons on Urantia.

Urantia is the sentimental shrine of all Nebadon, the chief of ten million inhabited worlds, the mortal home of Christ Michael, sovereign of all Nebadon, a Melchizedek minister to the realms, a system savior, an Adamic redeemer, a seraphic fellow, an associate of ascending spirits, a morontia progressor, a Son of Man in the likeness of mortal flesh, and the Planetary Prince of Urantia. Although Jesus referred one phase of the kingdom to the future and did, on numerous occasions, intimate that such an event might appear as a part of a world crisis; and though he did likewise most certainly, on several occasions, definitely promise sometime to return to Urantia, it should be recorded that he never positively linked these two ideas together. He promised a new revelation of the kingdom on earth and at some future time; he also promised sometime to come back to this world in person; but he did not say that these two events were synonymous. From all we know these promises may, or may not, refer to the same event. Page 1863 (170:4.5)

On several occasions Jesus had made statements which led his hearers to infer that, while he intended presently to leave this world, he would most certainly return to consummate the work of the heavenly kingdom. As the conviction grew on his followers that he was going to leave them, and after he had departed from this world, it was only natural for all believers to lay fast hold upon these promises to return. The doctrine of the second coming of Christ thus became early incorporated into the teachings of the Christians, and almost every subsequent generation of disciples has devoutly believed this truth and has confidently looked forward to his sometime coming. In further answer to Peter's question, Jesus said: "Why do you still look for the Son of Man to sit upon the throne of David and expect that the material dreams of the Jews will be fulfilled? Jesus promised to do two things after he had ascended to the Father, and after all power in heaven and on earth had been placed in his hands. He promised, first, to send into the world, and in his stead, another teacher, the Spirit of Truth; and this he did on the day of Pentecost. Second, he most certainly promised his followers that he would sometime personally return to this world. But he did not say how, where, or when he would revisit this planet of his bestowal experience in the flesh. On one occasion he intimated that, whereas the eye of flesh had beheld him when he lived here in the flesh, on his return (at least on one of his possible visits) he would be discerned only by the eye of spiritual faith.

Many of us are inclined to believe that Jesus will return to Urantia many times during the ages to come. We do not have his specific promise to make these plural visits, but it seems most probable that he who carries among his universe titles that of Planetary Prince of Urantia will many times visit the world whose conquest conferred such a unique title upon him. Page 1918 (187:4.3)

When the eleven had taken their seats, Jesus stood and addressed them: "As long as I am with you in the flesh, I can be but one individual in your midst or in the entire world. But when I have been delivered from this investment of mortal nature, I will be able to return as a spirit indweller of each of you and of all other believers in this gospel of the kingdom. In this way the Son of Man will become a spiritual incarnation in the souls of all true believers. Page 1953 (187:4.3)
