Do please wake up

Q: Do you honestly believe that a woman can give birth to 63 children (your story about Adam and Eve)? What sort of process does your brain go through in order to deny the scientifically possible to believe this nonsense? Do please wake up.

A. Thank you for your note to Truthbook.com and yes, it does sound pretty preposterous doesn't it? You didn't mention the fact that Adam and Eve were supposed to be close to 8 feet tall when the native population was under 6 feet tall -- that would seem pretty preposterous, too. Also, that it's recounted that their bodies gave off a slight aura of color that could be seen with normal vision. If you want to pick at preposterousness then the recounting of the story of Adam and Eve is a great place to begin.

I think you'd have to understand a bit about what else The Urantia Book relates before being able to pluck the story of Adam and Eve from it and have it make much sense. Let me supply a bit of background for you.

Primarily, reality isn't material only; it's both material and spiritual although our relationship with the spiritual is tenuous at best -- we are, after all, the lowest form of free-will and personality endowed creatures in the universe and are intended to be living a nearly totally material existence here. Notwithstanding our ignorance, there is a spiritual overcontrol and administration that is ultimately in control of all material reality; it's responsible for, among many other things, seeing that each inhabited world receives an Adam and Eve at the appropriate time.

Adam and Eve are actually special creations called Material Sons (sometimes Material Sons and Daughters). The Urantia Book contains considerable information about these Material Sons, you can read a bit about them here...and here...

Feel free to further your critique once you've read the material.

Human evolution on an inhabited world proceeds along a normal evolutionary course and human beings naturally evolve up to an apex of physical, mental, and spiritual capacity. In order to develop beyond this limited natural apex an infusion of superior DNA is required, again a normal but rather spectacular event on a planet. This is done by these specially designed beings, the Material Sons, often called biologic uplifters, coming in person. Here's a bit more detailed write-up about this event if you're interested, which appears to scientifically verify this preposterous appearing event having occurred at the exact time in ancient history where The Urantia Book places it.

However, to address your point specifically; the purpose of an Adam and Eve when they are bestowed upon a planet, is to have children. Childbirth is not painful for Eve, it's her primary function and purpose for being here and she can and does have children one after another. So, yes, we do honestly believe that a superhuman woman such as Eve can give birth to considerably more than 63 children. The process our brain goes through is to understand what and why The Urantia Book relates the wealth of significant material it does. We don't deny what is and what isn't scientifically possible, and not only have woken up because of our study of The Urantia Book, we hope to assist everyone who can intelligently assess this material to wake up as well.

Extreme Interest in Spirituality - a "Twin" Connection?

Q: I would like to know if by my being a "mortal-twin" has anything to do with my EXTREME interests and spiritual connections I have always been aware of even as an infant?

A: Being a twin is solely a physical phenomenon although both you and your twin can share a strong psychic connection as well as both being held within the mind circuits of your parents until your late teen years. These have little to do with a spiritual connection though -- that comes more through your own personal sensitivity and orientation toward your angels and Thought Adjuster leadings, your connection with the Spirit of Truth and the Holy Spirit, and in those areas you and your twin could be quite different.

One caution about having an EXTREME interest in things spiritual -- this is the world of your first and only material existence. From this point on we will be "spirit beings" so don't rush into being "spiritual". Love and enjoy where you are here and now and experience it thoroughly and wholeheartedly. Keep your focus on the reality about you (keep your tires on the pavement and don't let them get pointed at the sky). Avoid wishful thinking and be practical. That's the best formula for living a happy, fulfilling and productive material existence.

Material concerns and spiritual growth

Q: Does spiritual growth and progress depend on purely material concerns like what we eat or wear?

A: Free will through experience is aligning with the Father's will, led into alignment by the indwelling spirit of God, prodded into transformation by angelic and spiritual helpers in a divine conspiracy. In the inner life we realize that God is real and personal, in fact God is inextricable from our daily existence, except when we ignore God. Where we live, what we wear, whom we love, and what we eat seem to be within the realm of personal choice.

Our conscious choices, even mundane choices, create the future in some measure. We mature in mind as well as body. Soul growth arises as we become more real, more aware. When that personal realm is uplifted by awakening to the presence of God's Spirit within, the range of choice begins to implement factors of discernment, penetrating insight into outcomes resultant from our choosing. The whole realm of physical health, energy, stamina, even courage, seems tied to choices of when and what we consume or take in. We also appear to be called to make choices about what to eliminate, to overcome, to forgive, and even to forget.

There is the self, yet everywhere there are others whose need for altruistic help brings us into relationships, not merely the magnetism of sexual attraction or romantic love. The authors of The Urantia Book even suggest that economic necessity will lead eventually to brotherhood. We have the power to lend a hand, if we choose. Families and friendships grow stronger and deeper as worship and wisdom are brought into daily existence. Devotions and meditation season the tough realities of our contemporary civilization, making a place for insight into "the wholeness of events."

Our world poses us the most exquisite choice panorama. Diet, health, religion, sexual and affectional preferences, political philosophy, personal discipline, labor or profession, and altruistic service all call to us to engage in living fully, utilizing our God-given power of choice for that which is true, beautiful, and good.

When we evolve toward transformation, we seem to be opening to the destiny that God desires us to implement, to the benefit of our world in its painfully uncertain cruise upon the waters of environmental and social destiny. May our loyalties to high ideals, tempered by our realistic appraisal of opportunities and liabilities, aid us in moving our troubled world one more step toward Light and Life.
